Turbine in Winter

Clines Corners Turbine Running with Anemometer Pole in the Foreground ....

Severe winter weather presents challenges for mechanical equipment and wind turbines are no exception. Much of the Great Plains in the central U.S. is having a cold and snowy winter. Our 60 kW turbine will need a transmission oil heater to operate when the temperature drops. We expect to have the new heating equipment installed in the next few weeks.

  • Can you post a spec sheet of the product. A power curve data sheet would interest me also, if possible.

  • Sir,

First of all, I must compliment you for maintaining a blog dedicated to VAWT operations.

Myself and my team have undertaken the CFD analysis of VAWTs as part of our undergraduate project. Due to lack of exposure to VAWTs in India, we have as yet not been able to obtain relevant field data for input in the analysis; Kindly provide us with a sample field data set along with generally used VAWT dimensions and other such
specifications. Eagerly awaiting your reply and assistance.

    Thanks.

  • We anticipate posting an actual power curve for our VP100 prototype running at 2135 m (7000 ft.) elevation. A complete product sheet won't be available until after the construction of the second generation VAWTPower turbine.
